Sizing your dog is important to ensure a comfortable fit and it doesn't have to be complicated. It is important to note that sizes can vary drastically from one manufacturer to another. When possible, please refer to size charts that accompany items in our store to ensure appropriate sizing. In dog fashion, the three most important measurements include the body length, chest circumference, and neck circumference. Read more below to find out how to find your pets perfect fit!
Sizing Pearls
- Consider adding 1 to 2 inches to your dogs chest measurement to ensure a comfortable fit
- When looking at a size chart pick the size that most closely includes all 3 of your dogs measurements
- If your dog is on the chubby side, go up a size
- Every manufacturer has their own sizing chart. Your dog's size will vary by brand and from one item to another.

Body Length
Measure this area from the base of the back of the neck where the collar sits along the backbone to the base of the tail. If your dog is of heavier weight than usual for their breed or has very thick fur, go up at least one size to ensure a comfortable fit, as the length of the dog may not always be proportional to their actual size.

Measure around your dog’s body behind the legs at the deepest part of the chest. This measurement is very important to ensure their comfort when wearing harnesses, coats, and other apparel. We recommend going up a size if your dog has large girth around this area to prevent restricted movement.
Neck
Measure around the neck where the collar sits. This measurement is very important and determines If your dog will be comfortable wearing the clothing. If the measurement is inaccurate and too tight, your dog may feel more restricted and have difficulty breathing comfortably.
Leg length
Measure the leg length from the top of the leg at the base of the chest down to the area before the curvature of the paw.
Apparel Sizing
Apparel is typically measured based on the length of the body and neck size. Measure from the base of the neck to the base of the tail to get the length. If your dog is more stout or chubby than typically observed in their breed, we recommend going up a size to ensure their comfort.
Coat Sizing
Hold the tape measure loosely, so that you can get two fingers underneath. If your dog measurement is an odd number round it down one size. Length: Measure from your dog’s neck to the base of the tail. Find the rib-cage and wrap the tape measure around the widest part. Your final selection should correspond with your dog’s chest size.
Harness Sizing
This measurement is found by finding the maximum chest circumference. Measure around your dog’s body behind the legs at the deepest part of the chest. This measurement is very important to ensure their comfort when wearing harnesses, coats, and other apparel. Collar Sizing
Using a flexible measuring tape, place the tape around your dog’s neck (not their existing collar). If your dog is in between sizes, choose the larger size going up in size.
Bed Sizing
Ensure your dog has enough space to lay on their side with their legs stretched in front of them.
